Sprocket: a wheel with cogged sprocket teeth to mesh with accurately pitch blocks on links or cables: a solid or spoke gear that meshes with (roller) chains to transmit motion.

Application of sprocket: it is widely used in mechanical transmission in chemical industry, textile machinery, food processing, instrumentation, petroleum and other industries.

General principles for selection of sprocket teeth:

19 teeth or more

It is generally used for driving sprockets operating at medium and high speed and under normal working conditions.

17 teeth

Only for small pitch drive sprocket.

23 teeth or more

Recommended for impact situations. When the speed ratio is low, the use of high tooth number sprocket can greatly reduce the rotation of I chain link, the tensile load of chain and the load of bearing.

Sprockets are solid or spoke gears that mesh with (roller) chains to transmit motion. The structure of sprocket is roughly as follows:

1. Overall structure. It is generally used in the processing of single, double row, single and double flange sprockets of standard chains below p=38.1.

2. Welded structure. It is mainly used in the processing of medium and large size single and double flange sprockets. The flange part adopts a bar car to form a convex shape. The outer diameter and shaft hole of the gear ring can be processed after plate cutting. One end of the hole is turned out of the welding groove and sleeved into the flange for welding. Both ends shall be welded during welding, and low hydrogen electrode such as t506 electrode shall be used.

3. Cast sprocket. It is mainly used in the processing of large sprocket. During processing, only the gear ring, two end faces of flange, outer diameter, inner diameter and keyway are processed, and then the tooth shape is processed. The rings and sprockets are all cast. There are two kinds of materials for casting sprocket, cast iron and cast steel, such as hti50, HT200 and ZG310-570 (ZG45).

4. Forge sprocket. It is mainly used in the production of medium and large size sprockets with large stress. When forging, whether it is single flange type or double flange type, it is generally forged into a convex shape, with sufficient machining allowance reserved for the shaft hole, low material utilization and high cost.
