Design of V-belt

(1)  V belt drive are usually endless ring belts. In order to facilitate installation, the shaft spacing and preload shall be adjusted. For transmission without tensioning wheel, the bearing position of one shaft shall be able to move along the belt length.

(2) The transmission structure shall facilitate the installation and replacement of V-belt drive.

(3) For horizontal or near horizontal v belt drive, the tight edge of the belt shall be at the bottom and the loose edge shall be at the top, which can increase the wrap angle of large and small pulleys.

(4) When multiple V-belts are driven, in order to avoid uneven load distribution of each V-belt, the length of V-belt on the same wheel shall be matched. All belts must be replaced at the same time.

(5) The use of tensioning wheel transmission will increase the bending times of the belt and shorten the service life of the belt.

(6) In the transmission device, the flatness of the central plane of the wheel groove corresponding to the two pulleys shall be less than 0.002a (a - shaft spacing); The parallelism of pulley axis shall be less than 0.006a.

(7) Ordinary V-belts and narrow V-belts shall not be mixed in the same drive.

V belt drive is an endless belt without joints. Its cross section is isosceles trapezoid, and its two sides are working faces. The bottom surface of the belt is not in contact with the bottom surface of the wheel groove. The V-belt is composed of fabric wrapping, top rubber, tensile body and bottom rubber. The tensile body is divided into cord core structure and rope core structure. The V-belt of cord core structure is easy to manufacture and has high tensile strength; The V-belt with rope core structure is flexible and suitable for occasions with high speed.

 

The V-Belt Drive is a versatile and effective component for transmitting power between shafts. It features a unique trapezoidal design that locks securely into the pulleys of the shafts. This special shape allows the V-Belt to fit tightly within the grooves of the pulleys, enhancing surface contact and providing better stability.
When tension is applied, vertical forces acting perpendicular to the top of the V-Belt press its sides against the grooves of the pulleys. As these forces increase, the belt becomes more firmly wedged into the pulleys, increasing the friction between the belt and pulley surfaces. This enhanced grip facilitates higher torque transmission and reduces power loss due to slippage.
