
Timing Belt Pitch
Timing Belt Pitch is the distance from the center of one tooth to the center of the adjacent tooth on the pulley. Timing Belt Pitch describes the shape of the teeth designed for the type of application the timing pulley is designed for. The application determines the required registration accuracy, torque carrying capacity, anti-ratcheting characteristics, and quietness of the drive system. This timing belt tooth geometry is often a proprietary feature of a specific timing belt manufacturer. These timing belt tooth shapes are often marketed as exclusive to a particular timing belt manufacturer. However, competition and market forces dictate that customers do not like to be forced into only one choice.
Timing belt pitch:
The pitch diameter of the synchronous pulley is the pitch circle diameter of the synchronous pulley. From the point of view of gears, the pitch diameter seems to be an abstract number. However, it is a very important number, because many data on the gear are related to the pitch diameter. For example: number of teeth * modulus = diameter of dividing circle. To put it more simply, the timing belt pitch diameter is the intersection point (tangent point) of two gears.
The timing belt pitch radius is calculated as follows:
Calculation of pitch circle:
1. External meshing gears (modified and non modified gears)
Pitch radius = center distance * number of teeth / sum of teeth
2. Internal meshing gears (modified and non modified gears)
Pitch radius = center distance * number of teeth / number of teeth difference
Calculation of other data of synchronous pulley
1. Calculation of pitch diameter of synchronous pulley:
If the pitch of the synchronous wheel is DP, the number of teeth is Z, and the PI is π, the calculation formula is as follows:
Dp=p × Z/π
2. Calculation of actual outer diameter of synchronous pulley:
Let the pitch diameter of the synchronous belt be DP and the pitch from the top of the belt be δ, Then the calculation formula is as follows:
De= Dp-2 δ
3. Center distance calculation of synchronous pulley:
If the timing belt pitch length of the synchronous belt is l, the center distance between the two shafts is C, the pitch diameter of the large pulley is DP, and the pitch diameter of the small pulley is DP, the calculation formula is as follows:
B= L – 1.57 (Dp + dp)
