S8M timing pulley materials are usually gray cast iron, 45steel, aluminum alloy, copper or engineering plastics.

The materials of synchronous belt pulley are mostly 45steel and hard aluminum alloy. For others, cast iron, copper, nylon and other materials suitable for processing can be used to make synchronous belt pulley. The specific selection is mainly based on personal needs.

45 steel is actually carbon quenched and tempered steel. It has high wear resistance and stress resistance, but the weight of the wheel body is relatively heavy. It is mainly used in heavy-duty transmission. The weight of aluminum alloy material is relatively light, and the effect is better in light load synchronous belt transmission.

Common problems during the use of synchronous belt:

Insufficient tension:

If the tension is not enough, the friction will also be insufficient, and then slip will occur, which will increase the wear of the synchronous belt and make other lose the ability to transmit load. The transmission instability will make the belt transmission ineffective.

Too much tension:

The synchronous belt bears too much tension and serious deformation, which will reduce the service life of the synchronous belt.

Sundries left on the timing belt:

If there is grease and other dirt on the timing belt, because the dirt contains chemicals, it can enter the timing belt and destroy its material structure.

Timing pulley not aligned:

If the timing belt pulley is not aligned, the timing belt will slip, twist and heat and wear inside. Therefore, the timing belt pulley must be aligned.
