The serpentine belt engine slides on several pulleys, and its rotating energy is different devices. Belts are usually connected to the following accessories:

alternator

The belt helps to power the alternator, which keeps the battery charged.

Power steering pump

The power steering pump pressurizes the hydraulic steering fluid. Without a belt driven pump, the driver may suddenly lose power steering, which makes handling more difficult.

air conditioning compressor

The air conditioning compressor delivers fluid to the entire air conditioning system, so its function is the key to keeping cool.

Water pump
