Sprocket Rocket | Where do I install my dispenser?

Will you install a TV on the floor? Is there a camera next to the stand? Maybe your toilet paper holder is on the ceiling? No!

It's good to have things make sense when you set them up - and motorcycle chain refuelers are no exception. Whether you are using a vSystem, xSystem or eSystem, mounting the distributor on the sprocket for oil to pass through is critical for optimum Scotoiler performance. Read on to find out why...

don't throw

A long-standing myth is that when you use chain dispensers, they throw oil all over the store - and the resulting buildup of road grime, molasses, etc. Not really - only if you mount the chain oiler slightly above the sprocket, not lightly touching the sprocket face. Wind pressure from around the bike contributes to this, so it is not recommended for the system. We've talked to people in the past about why there's so much shit - we're not a mess, we promise!

Allowing the dispenser to lightly "kiss" the sprocket face will allow the oil to spread out evenly and consistently, not flying around, but lubricating the sprocket as you ride. Take care to avoid sprocket bolts, lightening holes, teeth and the chain itself. The diagonal cut at the end should face outward, as shown on the opposite side, to avoid clogging with grit or friction. Click here to see a good example in our installation video.

Are there any exceptions?

No, but sometimes the make/model of the bike promotes the need for an adapter to ensure the best fit and therefore the best performance from our motorcycle chain refuelers.
