
Helical Gear Rack
From the perspective of external meshing, when the helical rack is meshed with the helical gear with equal helix angle, it can be regarded as an external gear with a large number of teeth meshing with a helical gear with a limited number of teeth.
It should be that the oblique angle direction of the helical gear rack and helical gear is opposite, that is, they are left-handed and right-handed respectively, but it can also be compared with the internal meshing. When the internal helical gear is meshed with the external helical pinion, the definition of the rotation direction is the same, and the helical gear rack can also be regarded as an internal helical gear with a large number of teeth, so it can also be considered that when the helical rack is matched with the gear with equal oblique angle, The oblique direction of the rack is the same as that of the helical gear.
The external construction elevator driven by gear rack is composed of tower (guide rail frame), driving mechanism, safety device, electric control system, heightening mechanism, etc. The tower is composed of space truss standard sections welded with seamless steel pipes. The length of the standard section is 1508 mm, and the standard sections are connected with jacketed bolts. The main chord is the guide rail for car lifting. The guide rail is connected with the building under construction through the wall attachment device.
The reason why helical gear rack has more advantages than straight rack in application:
1. The straight teeth have the disadvantages of large noise, small contact surface and relatively small load torque compared with the oblique teeth due to the single tooth engagement contact, small contact surface and large single point load.
2. However, the oblique teeth have 2 ~ 2.5 teeth engaging contact, with large contact surface and small single point load. Compared with the straight teeth, the oblique teeth have the advantages of small noise, large contact surface and relatively large load torque.
To provide a wide range of racks and pinions, SST has several types of racks in stock. If the application requires longer lengths and multiple racks in series, we can provide racks with the correct tooth configuration at the end. These are described as "gear racks with machined ends". When the rack is produced, the gear cutting process and heat treatment process will cause trial and error in the rack. We can control this with special presses and remedial processes.
In some applications, the Helical Gear Rack is stationary and the pinion moves laterally, while in other applications, the pinion rotates on a fixed axis and the rack moves. The former is widely used in conveying systems, while the latter can be used in extrusion systems and lifting applications.
As a mechanical element that converts rotary motion into linear motion, the rack is often compared to a ball screw. There are both advantages and disadvantages to using a rack instead of a ball screw. The advantages of a rack are mechanical simplicity, large load capacity, and unlimited length. But the disadvantage is backlash. The advantages of a ball screw are high precision and small backlash, and the disadvantage is limited length due to deflection.
