8PK Belt

The serpentine 8PK belt is a long rubber belt that delivers power to engine accessories - alternator, power steering pump, air conditioning compressor and (sometimes) water pump.

Generation vehicles (usually) have only one belt, and all accessories can be powered by multiple pulleys.

Although using only one belt is the most effective and reliable choice, it also means that when the serpentine belt of your car breaks, all work will stop! You will lose power steering, the air conditioner will stop working, your battery will eventually run out of power, and the engine may overheat. In addition, it may damage the engine accessories it controls.

This is why it is so important to replace the serpentine 8PK belt regularly.

The replacement cycle of generator belt is generally 4 years or 80000 km. The specific replacement time depends on the belt condition. You can also refer to the vehicle maintenance manual.

Generally, there is no protective cover for the generator belt. The rain, dust and fine sand on the road may be caught in the belt groove. Therefore, the service life of the generator belt of the car without the lower guard will be shorter than that of the car with the lower guard.

The service life of the generator  8PK belt is also related to the belt tensioner. Good quality tensioner can prolong the service life of the belt. Poor quality tensioner is easy to loosen the belt and shorten the service life. Therefore, check the tensioner once when checking the belt. 

Recommended that the car be checked every 40000 km and replaced every 80000 km or so. When checking the belt, check it together with the tensioner. If the tensioner is found to be broken, replace it together. If the belt is found intact without looseness, aging and deformation during inspection, it can be used for a period of time.
