Most people choose the timing belt randomly, and they may not know the tooth shape of the timing belt. Synchronous belts are mainly divided into trapezoidal teeth and circular arc teeth
(1) Trapezoidal tooth synchronous belt
The stress of trapezoidal teeth is concentrated at the tooth root. When the diameter of small pulley is small, the tooth shape of trapezoidal tooth synchronous belt will be deformed (polygon effect, the same as chain transmission), which will affect the meshing with belt teeth and easily produce noise and vibration, which is very unfavorable for the main transmission with high speed. Therefore, the trapezoidal tooth synchronous belt is rarely used in the main drive of NC machine tools, especially machining centers. Generally, it is only used in the motion drive with low speed or the power drive with low power drive.
Applicable occasions: occasions with low speed and low power transmission
Advantages: high transmission accuracy and low cost
Disadvantages: the tooth root is easy to concentrate stress, so the load capacity is low; High noise and vibration.
(2) Circular arc tooth synchronous belt
The circular arc tooth synchronous belt overcomes the shortcomings of the trapezoidal tooth synchronous belt, homogenizes the stress and improves the meshing. Therefore, in the machining center, whether it is main drive or servo feed drive, when belt drive is required, circular arc tooth synchronous toothed belt is always given priority.
Application: small pitch, small backlash, more suitable for positioning, high torque
Advantages: high transmission accuracy, large transmission torque and low noise, which can prevent interference in the process of tooth meshing
Disadvantages: the price is slightly higher.
