There are three types of belts commonly used in automobiles: fan belt, multi wedge belt and timing belt. Installation position of automobile belt: in automobile application, it is mainly installed in automobile engine crankshaft cam, water pump, generator, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, etc.
1. Fan belt is a belt driven by crankshaft, which is mainly used to drive engine fan and water pump.
2. The multi wedge belt, also known as the air conditioning belt, is used to drive the generator, air conditioning compressor and power steering pump to hang on the crankshaft pulley and tighten by the air conditioning belt tensioner. When this belt is damaged, it will feel that the power is heavy and there is no steering power; If the air conditioner is turned on, it cannot be cooled because the air conditioner compressor does not start.
3. Timing belt is an important part of the engine valve system. It is connected with the crankshaft and matched with a certain transmission ratio to ensure the accuracy of inlet and exhaust time.
The function of timing belt is to keep "synchronous" operation at all times under the connection of "timing" when the engine is running, the stroke of piston (up and down movement), the opening and closing of valve (time) and the ignition sequence (time).
The engine drives various auxiliary mechanisms through belt drive, such as compressor of air conditioner, power steering oil pump, alternator, etc. if the belt slips or breaks, the relevant auxiliary mechanisms will not operate normally, thus affecting the normal use of the vehicle. Therefore, it is very necessary to check the transmission belt regularly.
