Pipe threads can achieve sealing just by threads, and any filling or sealing stuffs are unnecessary. There are two types of hydraulic fittings, hydraulic female fitting and hydrarulic male fitting, there are also two connection forms for pipe threads sealed with thread: cylindrical internal thread and tapered external thread, tapered internal thread, when the pressure is below 5×105Pa, the former connection is tight enough, and the latter connection is usually only used under high temperature and high pressure.

Please find below generally size number for hydraulic male fittings:

1) G1/8 —> Φ6: One end is a threaded fitting whose basic size (see the comparison table below) is inch 1/8", and the other end is a pipe with an outer diameter of 6mm (generally, it is a plastic gas pipe, and there are also copper pipes, brass and SS etc.).

2) M8 —> Φ6: One end is a threaded joint with a nominal size of 8mm, and the other end is a pipe with an outer diameter of 6mm (generally it is a plastic gas pipe, but there are also copper pipes and the like).

The pipes in the above two models are all in metric form, that is, the unit is mm, for example Φ6, which means the outer diameter of the pipe is 6mm. In fact, there is also a kind of piping indicated by the British system, which is Φ1/8 or 1/8, which means that the outer diameter of the pipe is 1/8".

How do I know what the code number of the thread is?

For those starting with M, M8 means that the major diameter of the thread is 8mm, and the outermost dimension of the thread is measured by a caliper. Take the whole number, which is the model.

For threads starting with G, or for inch threads, also use a caliper to measure the outermost dimension of the thread, but this is only the major diameter (mm), find more corresponding codes in the table below
